Realme 9 Pro Review: Flagship Performance, 120Hz Screen

Realme 9 Pro Review: Flagship Performance, 120Hz Screen – Realme has returned to revitalize the smartphone market through its flagship mid-range product, the Realme 9 Pro. Even though it is called a mid-range smartphone, the specifications and design that it carries are said to be equivalent to a flagship phone.

Realme 9 Pro Review

Realme presents the impression of a flagship on this mid-range smartphone from design to performance. The back of the Realme 9 Pro can change color under UV light reflection. Meanwhile, its performance follows the current smartphone trend, which supports 5G connectivity via the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor.

Not to forget, the camera is also superior because it carries a 64MP Nightscape Camera. Carrying the slogan “Capture the Light,” the Realme 9 Pro camera can capture images well in low light conditions.

Realme 9 Pro Design

Adopting the DNA of the flagship design of the Realme 9 Pro+, namely Light Shift, the rear body of the Realme 9 Pro can change color when exposed to UV light or sunlight. This design uses the Photochromic technique by adding organic OCA material to change color with ultraviolet light.

The originally blue color will turn purplish-red when exposed to UV light. The colors are very real and full, also pleasing to the eye. Because the glittering body material gives its beauty when the color changes

Unlike its predecessor, the Realme 8 Pro, which has a full-looking housing, the Realme 9 Pro 5G camera housing is made more flexible, with a composition of 3 cameras and 1 flash. Camera placement is arranged diagonally and spaced, with a unique housing that appears transparent. This transparent blue color gives the impression as if the camera is floating.

The screen measures 6.6 inches with a screen-to-body ratio of 90.8%. The front camera is placed in the upper left corner of the screen in a punch hole which is quite striking because of its fairly large size. However, this does not impair the user’s view of the screen or any functions on the screen.

Not too light, but not too heavy either. Realme 9 Pro weighs 182 grams. Not surprising, considering the battery capacity is 5,000 mAh. At the same time, the smartphone’s size is 160.2 x 73.3 x 7.99 mm.

Realme 9 Pro Performance

The Realme 9 Pro is powered by an octa-core chipset of Snapdragon 695 5G with 6nm fabrication. According to the claim, there is a 15% increase in CPU performance and 30% GPU power efficiency. 5G performance on smartphones is supported by the X51 modem and can reach download speeds of up to 2.3 Gbps.

The processor is combined with 6GB and 8GB RAM options and 128GB of internal storage. There’s no need to worry about insufficient storage because the Realme 9 Pro supports 5GB Dynamic RAM Expansion (DRE), an additional 5GB of virtual RAM. Thus, the phone can store many files and a lot of heavy applications without making it slow.

Based on the Geekbench application’s benchmark results, Realme 9 Pro achieved a single-core score of 687 and multi-core 2037. Due to the improved chipset configuration, there was an improvement from its predecessor, single-core and multi-core. Based on the first test, the Realme 8 Pro achieved a single-core score of 587 and a multi-core score of 1707.

Realme 9 Pro is also supported with a 120Hz refresh rate to provide a smoother gaming experience; it comes in 6 levels of adaptive refresh rate, ranging from 30Hz, 48Hz, 50Hz, 60/90Hz, to the highest 120Hz. Users can play heavy games at the level of PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends on Realme 9 Pro. During play, there is no lagging or significant problems. Even though the body warms up over time, it doesn’t interfere with the game’s running. The temperature didn’t rise to an extreme either. As a solution, users can take advantage of the casing provided in the purchase box to reduce the feeling of warmth in the palms.

In terms of graphics, playing PUBG Mobile on Realme 9 Pro only supports up to HD settings with a high frame rate. While set with Graphics Balance can reach the highest frame rate, namely Ultra. On the other hand, the device also supports the gyroscope feature in PUBG Mobile.

Realme 9 Pro Camera

Capture the light is not merely a slogan for the Realme 9 Pro, but the camera’s ability to capture light. The smartphone’s rear camera consists of a 64MP Nightscape Camera, 8MP super-wide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
