Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti: World’s Fastest GPU, Specs & Price

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti: World’s Fastest GPU, Specs & Price – Nvidia is launching the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti for $1,999 on March 29, 2022. After a mysterious delay following the January announcement, the “fastest GPU on the planet” will be available from Asus, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Gigabyte, Galax, INNO3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac in stores today. Nvidia has also created a limited-edition Founder’s Edition board available from Best Buy online.

RTX 3090 Ti Specifications

The RTX 3090 Ti is the familiar-looking three-slot design we saw on the RTX 3090, and the two cards look identical at first glance. Nvidia made the most of the 8nm GA102 chip built into the RTX 3090 Ti, combining it with the 24GB GDDR6X running at 21GB/s.

That’s the same amount of VRAM as the RTX 3090 but with nearly 7.7 percent faster memory clocks for a total memory bandwidth of 1008GB/s.

Nvidia says the RTX 3090 Ti will also include a 40 teraflops GPU performance, a base clock of 1560MHz, & a boost clock of 1860MHz.

That’s over 36 teraflops on the RTX 3090, 1395MHz base clock, and 1695MHz boost clock speed. The RTX 3090 TI includes 10,752 CUDA cores, 78 RT-TFLOP, and 320 Tensor-TFLOP.

Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti Performance

In terms of gaming performance, Nvidia claims the RTX 3090 Ti will be 64 percent faster on average than the RTX 2080 Ti and nine percent faster than the RTX 3090. While Nvidia marketed the RTX 3090 heavily in 8K gaming during its launch, the company rightly positions the RTX 3090 Ti for creators, professionals, and anyone who wants the fastest GPU for gaming or creative tasks.

The RTX 3090 Ti is designed for large projects within applications such as Blender, Maya, or Cinema4D or research systems for data scientists using large data sets.

CG developers and animators working with large sets, high-resolution textures, and detailed models might also find the RTX 3090 Ti useful for specific projects.

Huge Power Requirement

The RTX 3090 Ti will also have some significant power requirements. It would be best if you had a power supply capable of producing at least 850 watts of power, as the card uses up to 450 watts.

That’s up from the power requirements of the RTX 3090 and 750 watts of 350 watts. Nvidia has also ditched the 12-pin connector in favor of a 16-pin PCIe Gen5 power cable. Most power supplies don’t ship with the original cable, so Nvidia provides a dongle that requires three 8-pin connectors.

RTX 3090 Ti Price

The real tradeoffs here are price and power requirements. The RTX 3090 Ti starts at $1,999, which means we’ll see plenty of partner boards well beyond $2,000.

This is the first time we’ve seen a GeForce “gaming” card retailing for nearly $2,000, even though the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 cards are trading at this price throughout 2021.

The price will naturally make up a lot from the RTX 3090 Ti, especially for gaming, as it’s a 30 percent increase over the RTX 3090 with the promise of only a nine percent performance increase.

However, if you want the bragging rights of owning the “world’s fastest graphics card,” then Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is available starting at $1,999.

Even though the RTX 3090 Ti is the highest-performing GPU, it might not be a good time to buy a new GPU. Because, as is known, NVIDIA is already preparing for the presence of the RTX 40 series soon.

In several leaks, the use of the Ampere Next architecture will have much higher performance when compared to Ampere-based GPUs. So, chances are you will be able to get a GPU with almost similar performance at a more affordable price.
