Logitech Pop Keys Review, Compact Mechanical with Emoji Keys

Logitech Pop Keys Review, Compact Mechanical with Emoji Keys – Mechanical keyboards can be intimidating to newcomers. The sheer number of options given, such as keyboard size, switch type and manufacturer, key cover style, and material, can make it difficult to know where to start.

However, once you get started with using a mechanical keyboard, there’s a lot you’re sure to love, from the incredible touch sensation and feel of typing to the satisfying “clack” sound of keys to the customizability of the keys.

Logitech Pop Keys Review

Logitech launches a mechanical keyboard that is so adorable—named Pop Keys. This keyboard is presented to target Gen-Z users.

Logitech Pop Keys was not made for everyone. Its high-contrast colors, high saturation color palette, round typewriter retro style keycaps, and dedicated emoji keys will instantly dissuade anyone who just wants a simple-looking keyboard.

But as a beginner mechanical keyboard or mechanical alternative to other Logitech Bluetooth keyboards like the budget-friendly K380 or the MX Keys Mini, it’s an aesthetically striking option with reliable connectivity and a decent feel.

Logitech Pop Keys comes with a 75% keyboard style. That is, the dimensions are more compact than a standard full-sized keyboard. This keyboard is still very functional and complete by still providing a series of function keys and arrows.

The design adheres to a retro style. Each key is round, which is inspired by the keys on a typewriter. Users can also enjoy a more comfortable typing experience with a loud clicking sound effect using mechanical switches. To match the user’s style, Logitech presents this keyboard with a choice of three color combinations.

Pop Keys Features

The most interesting feature of Logitech Pop Keys is the emoji button on the far right. Each of these emoji buttons can be customized via the Logitech Options application on a PC. Logitech provides four spare button caps that can be easily replaced to suit user needs.

Another advantage is in battery life. Relying on two AAA batteries, this battery can last up to 3 years. Durable for a wireless keyboard.

Pop Keys Price

If interested, the price of Logitech Pop Keys is the US $ 99.99. Along with the launch of this keyboard, Logitech also presents the Logitech Pop Mouse and Logitech Desk Mat in a matching style. Logitech Pop Mouse US$39.99 and Logitech Desk Mat US$19.99.

The Good

  • A decent typing experience is a huge improvement over a laptop keyboard or cheap Bluetooth keyboards like Logitech’s K380.
  • Pair with up to four computers, tablets, or phones via Bluetooth or the included Logi Bolt receiver.
  • Easy-to-replace AAA batteries promise “up to three years” of battery life.
  • Customizable functions with software.
  • Additional emoji buttons.
  • Selling for $99.99 isn’t a bad price for a reliable Bluetooth mechanical keyboard, especially since there aren’t many good ones yet.

The Bad

  • TTC Brown switches feel OK but not to the level of Cherry or Gateron switches.
  • Keycaps can be changed, but not all sets of keycaps are compatible.
  • The flashy color scheme and emoji buttons may be unpleasant for those who prefer a more conventional layout and design.

Logitech Pop Keys combines good software and reliable performance with a casual typing feel. So Logitech manages to address most of the unmet needs here. But in the end, we think it will be a better keyboard if Logitech makes some more conventional design decisions.

Logitech Pop Keys are a reliable and relatively inexpensive ($99.99) wireless option with a great battery life that can pair with up to four computers, tablets, or phones but won’t be as satisfying or accurate as a more conventional compact mechanical keyboard.

We think Pop Keys could make a great first (or only) wireless mechanical keyboard for many people, especially young people who enjoy this kind of color scheme and emoji options. This would feel like a huge upgrade over a laptop keyboard or membrane-switch pack keyboard.
